How To File For SSS Sickness Benefit and PhilHealth Coverage For OFW's Hospitalized Abroad

Okay, masyado atang mahaba yung title ko. :) Anyway, I went to POEA the other day to check my mom's contributions for her SSS, PhilHealth and PAGIBIG. As you all know, my mom was diagnosed of Breast Cancer last January 2015. Tapos na sya with her biopsy and operation and still undergoing on radio therapy treatment. So we really need financial assistance and since hindi magiging applicable sa kanya ang pagpunta sa PCSO (she is undergoing her treatment in Malaysia), we need to check her government benefits. Ayun nga puro expired lahat ng payments nya. :( Too bad, the PhilHealth was expired last 2013 so meaning the charges that my mom paid on the hospital starting March 2015 are not covered so hinahabol na lang namin is from May 27 up to her last treatment. I paid her 1 year contribution for the year 2015 for 2,400 PHP. And the staff gave me the requirements for confinement abroad. I advised mom that she needed to submit all the necessary forms to PhilHealth within 180 days after discharge.

Now lets go to how to claim SSS Sickness Benefit. My mom's SSS was also expired last year. I made a payment from January 2015 to June 2015 for 1,100 PHP a month. I was advised by the staff that my mom needs to go to the SSS site which is sss.gov.ph to download the forms. First is the Sickness Benefit for Voluntary/OFW. The same as for the Medical records, she also needs to download this and fill it up and attach all her medical records including receipt. She will then pass it at the SSS Malaysia branch and will get her claims after 120 days. After that we can also file her disability benefits. And on July we can also apply for her loan.

A lot of work but I hope everything will turn out fine. I should remind myself for all the payments made on my mom's account so it will not get expired to max out the benefits that she will be getting. I alsoneed to supervise her papers from her Insurance.
