"When you're stressed, you eat ice cream, chocolates and sweets. You know why? Because STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS!"
JIPANGYI |
As usual on my way home, I went to Robinson's Metro East this time to go to BDO. Then I passed by Mercury Drug and in front of it saw the new store which is JIPANGYI (under the escalator on the Ground Floor, very precise Ha Ha Ha). I knew it was new because there was a previous stall there for Buko Max (same company). According to their Facebook Site, they opened last October 7, 2014 at Robinson's Metro East. Yes I was curious because of it's unusual cone shape and I have to try it for myself.
What is Jipangyi?

Jipangyi Seoul Ice Cream is the only soft serve ice cream store offering freshly made cones out of corn, which are a healthy alternative against sugar-loaded cones. With the various cone shapes of Jipangyi, ice cream can be enjoyed without any spills and mess. Jipangyi Seoul Ice Cream comes in various flavors and can also be eaten with different toppings.
Jipangyi is from HAPPY RECIPE FOOD ENTERPRISE and Co. who also owns Buko Maxx, Waffle and Co., Flayvers.

This J shaped corn is very popular in Insadong, Korea a street usually selling Korean traditional stuff. So the name was actually meant to "walking stick" according to Koreans and how apt a name too for the corn stick snack many have traditionally enjoyed. A crispy stick that’s hollow on inside and curved at the end, great in taste and so much fun to chomp from one end to another.
So the J shape cone is the one actually holding the ice cream. They inject the ice cream inside the cone. Visually it actually looks funny and people will fall in line out of curiosity to taste it. So I am one of them, He He He. When I ordered they only have 2 flavors, chocolate and vanilla. I ordered for chocolate for 35 pesos. You can also add 5 pesos if you want to top it with Hershey's Kisses, M&M's, almond coated with chocolates and gummy bears.

The cone was really crisp and blant which is because they claimed that this is a healthy alternative against sugar-loaded cones. The ice cream is ok but not to die for (I still love our dirty ice cream). The price is affordable for something that you haven't tried yet. One more thing, I don't know how to start eating it. Ha Ha Ha.
