Half of my childhood was spent in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, when my mom started to work overseas. We lived there with my grandmother and other relatives of my mom. I also spent a year of my high-school at Cagayan National High School. During those times, I remembered eating the famous Pancit of Tuguegarao which is Pancit Batil Patung. I can still vividly recalls how unique this Pancit was because of its Batil Soup and carabeef toppings. There are times that I see my friends from the province posting pictures of Pancit Batil Patung in Manila when they are on vacation and its just too far from my place. Its been years since I tried the authentic ones so I was really excited when I discovered that I can finally order one in Antipolo (one friend posted it on Facebook, Oh the power of social media! :D)
I went to Nongmeong Pansit located at the back of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Church, just beside Leyble Hospital. They served Pancit Batil Patung which is a stir fried noodle recipe famous in Tuguegarao City. This pancit is consist of Batil soup which is made from binating itlog and Patung for the egg topping. The legit one is using carabeef for its topping and homemade mickey noodles. It is also unusual for this pancit because it is eaten with soy sauce, vinegar and a lot of onions.
After coming home from work, and seeing that post from a friend, without second thought I looked for the place and ordered Super Busog meal which costs P60. It's almost dinner time so I decided to have it take home. I was a little dissapointed, there was no visible Batil soup. Usually the Batil soup is separated on a small bowl when eating the Pancit, you'll pour it over or just have it on the side. That is how I remember eating it. Ate just had it on a paper plate and I am not sure if she already mixed the soup on it. She also didn't include any soy sauce or vinegar, just plain onions and calamansi. Well, I hurried back home so I can have it tasted.
It didn't tasted like the legit ones from Tuguegarao but it was a nice try. The homemade mickey from Tuguegarao has a great impact on its taste and it has a different authentic taste unlike this one.

The next day, 2 of my workmates decided to have merienda before we have our separate ways going home. The three of us are all from Antipolo, but only one hasn't tried the Pancit yet. Aby's image of the Pancit is the above picture. Batil soup was served late separately on a small bowl, it should go hand in hand with the Pancit. Meanwhile, Aaron loved the Pancit so much that he ate the meal that was good for 3-4 persons! Whoaah! My cousin mentioned that the Pancit Batil Patung in Tuguegarao now have leveled up its taste. I wish I can have a vacation there just to eat Pancit Batil Patung! :)
